§  What are your documentation practices and do we receive information on work performed? Exiis Corporation utilizes the Microsoft Solution Framework (MSF) to ensure all actions taken when working on your system is well-documented and follows industry “Best Practice” recommendations. Clients receive access to a dedicated Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) site that reports and records these processes in real-time, so there’s never a question of work performed. The SharePoint site is available to our clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, where they can log on at their convenience and check the status of work performed.

·          How does Exiis Corporation address new projects? Every client, network, and infrastructure has their own requirements, making each new project unique in its own way. Exiis Corporation follows a strict set of Project Management hierarchy which allows us to remain focused and on course while allowing us to remain agile and flexible enough to make adjustments when necessary. Essentially, all projects are managed in the following stages:

§  Requirements: The envisioning stage of the project where ideas are formed and informal discussion of the desired solution are discussed.

§  Architecture: The planning stage where solutions are drafted and submitted for submission, which entails a comprehensive screening of the proposed solution, hardware and software considerations, and workflow design plans.

§  Test Lab: Once the architecture is approved, a virtual and/or physical test lab is built and tested for design flaws, unforeseen events, and delivery of project requirements.

§  Design Modification: Results from the test environment are compared with the original requirements and architecture design plans. Modifications and final testing provide the “Proof of Concept” evidence needed to move forward with the actual implementation of the proposed changes.

§  Integration: Once “Proof of Concept” is demonstrated, tested, and modified, Exiis Corporation deploys the solution into the clients environment following “Lessons Learned” from the test lab as well as applying modifications discovered for a smooth, seamless, integration of the solution.


·         We need a robust, functional CRM solution for our organization, what do you recommend? Microsoft CRM application support is available for this extremely robust, customizable, customer relations server. Microsoft CRM provides tight integration with other Microsoft product and server, such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS). Out-of-the-box functionality can be very limiting and this is where the Microsoft CRM team at Exiis Corporation can assist you in building, creating, and managing your day-to-day operations. When properly designed, Microsoft CRM support helps build powerful customer relations and improved service delivery metrics, providing a consistent, professional feel for the end client

·         We have a network consultant and a small IT staff on-site—what are some examples of how Exiis Corporation can help us save costs by outsourcing additional services? ·         We have applications that run on Linux and UNIX Servers we would like to test—is there a way to do this on a Windows Server? Organizations considering testing an application that runs on a Linux or UNIX server can do so with EMC’s VMware or Microsoft’s Virtual Server software, which allows you to create a Linux or UNIX server, virtually, on a Windows computer. By testing in a virtual environment, Linux and UNIX Developers and administrators can ascertain the functionality of the application they are considering just as if it was a physical server attached to the network. If the application and the solution behave as it should, a physical server can be purchased and joined into the network. If the application does not deliver as expected, there are no additional costs and the organization has saved them from purchasing additional server hardware that was not necessary.

·         What about wireless connectivity? Wireless connectivity is becoming a way of life to most end-users. The use of portable laptops, PDAs, and Smart Phones are common place in most networks. When AD is installed in a single network environment, such as a small office, there are generally very few things that can go wrong. In larger network environments, such as multiple domains with cross-domain trusts, things begin to get a little more complex. Concerns about Active Directory replications between sites, AD corruption, and object management can become worrisome. Experience with advanced Active Directory tools, such as ADSIEDIT, NTDSUTIL, and DCDIAG becomes the Active Directory Support Professionals arsenal of weapons in determining the root cause of the AD failure and provides the answer to their resolution.

·         We’re concerned about network availability, especially since we are in an area that is prone to tornados and flash flooding. What can solutions does Exiis Corporation provide in the event our building is physically damaged or destroyed? Addressing fault tolerance, or the ability to quickly continue operations in the event of a catastrophic event is a concern to many network owners. Fault tolerance is the ability to provide fail-safe roll-over to mirrored servers or data storage where mission-critical business information is available should the primary systems fail or become incapacitated. There are several server and hardware solutions available to address these concerns; for example, Windows clustering services allow for two servers to share a common data source—when the primary server fails, the secondary server automatically takes over with no hit to the network operations. Remote data center servers, where servers are housed off-site in an entirely different part of the country, allow for real-time replication of data and services. Having servers located in a geographically different part of the country means they are not affected by local conditions such as earthquakes, fire, snow, and so forth, providing an alternative means to network and data information.

·         Does Exiis Corporation offer support for Business Web Development? Exiis Corporation’s team of Microsoft Certified Developers offer custom web changes to your business web site using modern, safe coding practices with languages such as HTML, .ASP, .NET, AJAX, C## and Visual Basic. No matter which language your web server utilizes, Exiis Corporation’s team of professional developers can make the changes you need to improve the look and feel of your corporate web site. These changes can include content, complex graphics, or a complexly new look and feel. Complex, safe, and secure eCommerce web sites with shopping carts and on-line payment solutions can be evaluated and improved upon to ensure the security and safety of your customer’s credit card or checking account information.

·         How can Exiis Corporation help our larger, Enterprise sized organizations? Similar to enterprise network monitoring, organizations approaching or exceeding more than 100 desktops and servers should have an automated process for deploying software, upgrades, and security patches. While Group Policies and Windows Update Services (WUS) will suffice on smaller networks, advanced server products such as Microsoft Systems Management Server can be configured to deploy these changes automatically. For example, an upgrade to the newest version of Microsoft Office should not require desktop engineers to visit each desktop—that’s an incredible waste of talent and resources. If WUS is used, then a massive, network-wide amount of traffic occurs, flooding the network as WSS attempts to install Office to all desktops at the same time. Systems Management Server can schedule updates based on time of day, specific user groups, and ensure only the users who need the new upgrade will receive the download.
